Hatsun Agro products
In the late 90's, "Hatsun Agro products" was
formed as a small partnership firm, marketing the brand
Arokya. Arokya milk is one of the hot products under Arokya,
sold all over Tamilnadu. The company is located in Salem;
Tamilnadu, India is serving entire Tamilnadu with their
milk products.
The Process
Milk from producers is collected everyday at various
centers and sent to the factory on the same day for
processing. Once they reach the factory they are checked
for quality and added to other storage sections and
sent for processing. This accumulated volume of milk
is then again sent to lab test to find out various parameter
levels. Based on that, additions and adjustments of
certain factors are done to arrive at a standard milk
formula for end users. Once the milk is standardized,
they are packed in different volume packets and sent
to various distributors for sale
The Challenge
All the above-mentioned processes other than the distributor
dispatch and billing was done manually. Hatsun faced
problems in many areas especially data mismatching and
consumption of time and resource. The main problem started
in transportation of milk from collection center to
factory. The company found lot of differences in quality
and quantity between collection center and factory.
Similar problem aroused in areas where manual entries
and calculation play vital roles such as parameter level
checking, adjustments, producer bill and distributor
bill generation. The company was completely in a need
of automation.
Response
Pinnacle Software System (P) Limited was asked to automate
the entire process in early 1999 and after a fast and
thorough study, pinnacle straight-away started implementing
solutions in various locations.
The differences in quality parameters from various
centers with the factory ones are sorted by scan sheet
automation process with automatic weighing and lab test
comparisons. Complete automation of production processes
was done in just 180 days. Producer and distributor
bill was automated. Producer bonus generation was done
in a very accurate way.
Factory specific production reports, collection reports
and year-end calculations were done and updated to web
for corporate analysis.
Result
A clear and straight road was laid right from beginning
to the end thus increased the quality processing, timely
delivery and customer satisfaction.
